It's been a tumultuous ride for the Toronto Maple Leafs' Peter Holland.

Acquired in a trade in 2013 along with Brad Staubitz in exchange for Jesse Blacker and two draft picks headed the Anaheim Ducks' way, Holland has failed to solidify himself within the Maple Leafs' lineup on a regular basis. Now, ahead of Toronto's road trip, there are reports indicating that the 25-year-old and his agent have spoken with general manager Lou Lamoriello and head coach Mike Babcock before deciding to not accompany the Leafs as they left town.

Darren Dreger of TSN states that a trade or potential waive could be in the works for Holland:

Kristen Shilton also believes that Holland could be traded soon or placed on waivers, and much like Dreger, felt that the forward was hoping to get some playing time out west:

Through 174 games played with the Maple Leafs, Holland registered 25 goals and 63 points.

More on this soon.
