Rumor: Free agent defenseman Cody Franson may be close to signing with a new team.

Free agency continues to be a frustrating process for defenseman Cody Franson, but his wait may about to be over.

While there has been no official confirmation, a report from Rick Dhaliwal of 1130 News is now claiming that the unrestricted free agent may be signing a new deal as early as this week. 

Franson has been seeking a long-term deal for several years but no team has been willing to give him that type of commitment, something that has resulted in him bouncing between several NHL teams.

In the past four seasons alone Franson has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nashville Predators and Buffalo Sabres and now it's only a matter of time before we learn where he will be playing next season.
