The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly interesting in a young defenseman from the St. Cloud State Huskies in the NCAA, 22-year-old Jimmy Schuldt.
The blue liner was never drafted by an NHL club, but now according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, several teams, including the Canadiens are eyeing the young defender.
While Habs scouting members were present at a St. Cloud game against the Pioneers at the University of Denver to take a look at their young prospect Ryan Poehling, rumors indicate that they were also studying Schuldt closely.
Schuldt took part in the Canadiens' development camp this past summer. In nine contests so far with the Huskies, Schuldt has recorded five goals and 13 points, while registering a plus-minus rating of +10.
