The Montreal Canadiens' recent success have somewhat put a halt to the many trade speculations going on in the dressing room, but with the Trade Deadline a few months away and one major blockbuster trade already behind us (Matt Duchene, you know it's him...), the Habs are reportedly back on the phone to find help on the back end.

With several forwards like Brendan Gallagher and Andrew Shaw fining the back of the net, Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is looking to bolster the blue line and might already have a plan in mind for an upcoming trade.

According to Tony Marinaro of Montreal's TSN 690, the Habs will trade captain Max Pacioretty in return for a top defenseman.

Pacioretty would be an attractive trade bait on the market, with many seasons with more than 30 goals in the books. In 17 games this season with the Habs, the captain has recorded six goals and 10 points.

Several rival clubs, like the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Washington Capitals, are scouting the market for help on the back end as well. One top quality defender that comes to mind is Oliver Ekman-Larsson of the Arizona Coyotes, who could decide to ask for a trade seeing that the Coyotes are having yet another terrible season.

Let's see how Bergevin can pull a major - you all know - he has done it in the past...
