Rumor: Heavy rivalry heats up on the trade market!

If your National Hockey League club is seeking depth on the blueline, we now know who they should turn to.

According to Dallas Morning News' Mike Heika, Stars general manager Jim Nill wants to address his crowded blueline, as the team carries nine defensemen for now. Head coach Ken Hitchcock is looking to determine his top-six d-men.

"Hitchcock said the plan he and assistant coach Rick Wilson have come up with is to find six defensemen and stick with them."

Several options are presented by the journalist: young prospect Julius Honka could be sent down to the minors. Greg Pateryn could be demoted, seeing that he would most likely clear waivers.

But a couple of defenders are expected to find themselves on the trading block. Jamie Oleksiak and Patrick Nemeth have yet to be traded, since Nill is still evaluating their potential and value on the market.

If the Stars decide to be open for business and ship some blue liners out, there will be a heavy competition on the market seeing that the Vegas Golden Knights are also trying to lure teams with their crowded blueline.

Knights GM George McPhee recently admitted that the phone has been ringing in Vegas, but could miss out of trading a defenseman if the Stars have better to offer. If one Stars player is easily picked up on the waiver wire, the Golden Knights won't forget about it!

Heavy competition on the market!
