Rumor: Imminent blockbuster move for Kane

Rumors of a potential trade of Buffalo Sabres sniper Evander Kane have begun to pick up steam, to the point that an NHL club might be close to making a definite move to land him. 

Kane's contract with the Sabres will end this summer, and now the Anaheim Ducks are the mix to acquire him before the Trade Deadline. 

TSN insider Darren Dreger commented on Montreal's 690 on a potential trade with Anaheim, and what they would have to give up to get their hands on Kane. 

“If you’re a team like Anaheim, as an example, in that win-now mode – and they’re looking for a forward – Evander Kane makes some sense," said Dreger as per Fanrag's Chris Nichols. "But for cap reasons, budget reasons, maybe Anaheim – if they are genuinely interested – would have to add a contract just to make the money make sense.”

“So you’re talking about probably at the very least a prospect and a draft pick. Or maybe Buffalo just wants a player who can play now, so you’re going to have to take on a contract."

Ducks newly appointed general manager Jeff Botterill could have something interesting to offer the Sabres, as Anaheim's depth on defense could potentially allow them to land a decent player in the deal.
