NHL insider Pierre LeBrun opened up on Montreal’s TSN 690 on Duchene current situation.

“Can someone be poisoned by being in a losing environment for too long?”

“He’s a way better player than what he showed this year. Let’s not kid ourselves,” LeBrun asserted. “That whole situation—the losing got to him, the trade rumors, not knowing what the future was bringing—that was a real emotional roller coaster for Matt Duchene.”

“He’s an excellent, excellent player. I would have no reservation trading for him knowing that he’s a much better player than what happened this year.”
