Rumor: Insider reveals team to watch in Turris trade negotiations
Keystone Press

In his latest 31 Thoughts article for Sportsnet, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman breaks down the latest rumors coming out of the Ottawa Senators surrounding forward Kyle Turris. With Turris’ deal expiring at the end of this season, the Sens will either have to pony up some serious money to keep in in Ottawa or, they’ll be forced to trade him for a presumed package of prospects and draft picks.

So, if Turris does his the trade market, who should fans expect to see get in on the action? Friedman points to the Nashville Predators as a potential destination, but admits that he hasn’t heard anything connecting to the two teams just yet. In his own words, “If a trade becomes reality, my personal opinion is to monitor Nashville’s interest.”

Intersting destination, to say the least. The Preds are already quite strong down the middle of their lineup with Ryan Johansen, Calle Jarnkrok, Nick Bonino and Austin Watson already nailing down spots at the center ice position. Regardless, the team has been rumored to be in on Colorado Avalanche center Matt Duchene for months, so clearly they’re trying to add an additional pivot. Stay tuned, Preds fans.
