The New York Islanders may decide to go for a home run this year, with them reportedly holding on to That's unfortunate John Tavares for the season regardless of the contract situation.

They sit third in a stacked division and have a very strong 14-7-2 record.

It was reported today by Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy that there are some trade rumblings going on between the Islanders and the Winnipeg Jets.

We reported earlier today that, according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the Islanders could go all in and form a massive trade package to acquire Oliver Ekman-Larsson from the Arizona Coyotes

They may have a different idea in mind - could they go after Jacob Trouba? His name has been in the rumor mill for ages, and he's one of the most highly sought-after defensemen on the market today.

It will be very interesting to see how this one shakes out.

Trouba currently has 7 points in 23 games, but is an instrumental part of the Jets' 14-6-3 record.
