Rumor: Kane linked to five teams in trade talks

To say that things haven’t gone according to plan this season for the Buffalo Sabres is the understatement of the year. With a new GM, a new head coach and a renewed sense of optimism surrounding a young team full of promise and potential, things were supposed to be different this year in Buffalo. Then the puck dropped on the 2017-18 season and well… the rest is history.

The Sabres currently sit last place in the NHL with a miserable 6-17-4 record. Trade speculation has run rampant in the past week, amidst a report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman who indicated the team would like to move pending UFA Evander Kane. Now, a report from The Fourth Period is shedding some light on where the power forward may end up.

According to the report:

Kane, who leads the Sabres in goals (12) and points (23), has been linked to the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals.

Interesting. Could you imagine the Lightning’s offense with ANOTHER weapon up front? Ditto for the Blues and Capitals. The real question is whether or not Kane will be a rental player or if he’ll re-up long-term with whichever team decides to trade for him.

One thing’s for sure: Kane WILL be traded. It’s just a matter of when and where…
