There have been rumblings of a plan from the National Hockey League to incorporate a fourth jersey on every team for next season, one that will bring back those old school vibes for long time NHL fans and showcase them to a new generation of NHL fans as well.

We've already had some hints about what some of those new jerseys might look like, and now a new report from Los Angeles Kings insider John Hoven appears to have revealed the plans for what the Kings organization will be doing. Although the jerseys themselves have not been revealed, what Hoven has obtained is what he claims appears to be an outline of the Kings' plans for a "reverse retro" jersey come next season.

The jersey most definitely has that old school feel to it and it will likely also have crossover appeal for fans of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association, who's team uses a similar color scheme to the one in the leaked document from Hoven. The jerseys are purple, white and gold and although they have not yet been officially unveiled I think we can be pretty confident that this is the direction the team will be going in. Not only does the design make a ton of sense from a marketing and business perspective, but Hoven is also an excellent reporter when it comes to anything Kings' so if he's confident about this design then so am I.

Here's a first look at the jerseys courtesy of Hoven and MayorsManor.com:
