Rumor: Leafs in full panic mode, set to make a trade!

October is just coming to an end and it hasn’t been a good run for the Toronto Maple Leafs lately, who just suffered a third straight loss and a fourth in five games. 

In a segment of the Breakfast club on TSN Radio, host Michael Landsberg, Mark Roe of SportsCenter and Toronto Star’s Bruce Arthur discuss what need to be done to improve the Leafs sooner rather than later, without acting like everyone is pressing the panic button. 

Arthur reminds all of the panel and fans listening, that the Leafs still need to figure out what their salary cap structure will look like with William Nylander, James van Riemsdyk, Leo Komarov, and Tyler Bozak due new contracts this summer and Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews due at the end of next season. 

Th recent issues and losses have made it more clear that the Leafs need a boost on the back end and could look to the trade market to make a significant change. 

The Vegas Golden Knights,  the Los Angeles Kings, the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers have been advertising that they have defensemen available. 

The Leafs have also been at the centre of several trade chatter mentionning that they could sacrifice Marner to land a Norris Trophy candidate in Oliver Ekman-Larsson of the Arizona Coyotes. 

The recent slump is surely making them more active on the phone…
