The trade chatter has gone crazy and the Toronto Maple Leafs are jumping on board, with a good chance to land a Norris Trophy candidate in Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Not only did NHL insiders Elliotte Friedman and Nick Kypreos report that Arizona Coyotes defenseman could hit the trade market before his current contract runs out in June, 2019, not the Leafs might already have a plan in mind to bring him on board.

Although Coyotes GM John Chayka insists that Ekman-Larsson is “not available", many wonder if OEL will want to stay with a team which is last in the NHL and not ready to improve and become a Cup contender for years to come.

The Leafs are ready - NOW ready - and GM Lou Lamoriello could have a perfect puzzle to pull off a blockbuster trade. According to radio host Harold Berger who wrote on Between the Posts, there is no way Chayka will let him walk for free and we might see the Leafs speed things up by trading a few forwards to land him. However Chayka will have a steep price tag in mind in the name of star forward Mitch Marner

Then a few additional shifts would be needed this summer with upcoming free agents to be able to absorb OEL's contract and extension.

"The Maple Leafs must also determine how their roster will shake out after the current schedule, with any or all of James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak, Leo Komarov, Dominic Moore and Roman Polak heading to unrestricted free agency, and Joffrey Lupul’s salary coming off Long Term Injured Reserve."

Would you trade Marner straight–up for Ekman–Larsson?
