Rumor: Legendary head coach may soon be back in the NHL.

There have been big rumors regarding the future of a recently unemployed and very respected National Hockey League head coach, and now another insider has put his two cents into the mix.

In his most recent "30 Thoughts" article, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman touched on the rumors surrounding Ken Hitchcock, the NHL's 4th all time winningest head coach.

From Friedman:

"Don’t know how things will shake down in Dallas and prefer not to guess. But I wonder if Ken Hitchcock will end up there in some role. Some connections remain."

The Stars greatly under performed this season relative to the exceptions that both their fans and the team had set for itself and one has to wonder if they would consider moving on from head coach Lindy Ruff. To be fair to Ruff the decisions of the general manager regarding the team's goaltending tandem likely had a far greater impact this season than his coaching style, but life is often far from fair.
