RUMOR: Massive trade rumor emerges from Edmonton after second-round elimination

There is always a bunch of rumors emerging after a team’s tough elimination, especially when certain players did not perform well enough. And the Edmonton Oilers are no exception this year.

TSN Hockey insider Darren Dreger said in an interview with Montreal’s TSN690 that he would not be surprised if the Oilers decided to trade Jordan Eberle.

“Chiarelli is going to have to get very creative. I think Jordan Eberle has probably played his last game with the Edmonton Oilers. And some wonder if they might have to make a real significant move, and maybe move both Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins.”

Dreger justifies his claim by the fact that Leon Draisaitl will command a much bigger salary for the next few seasons, since his three-year entry-level contract is up.

And let’s not forget Connor McDavid: his rookie deal expires at the end of next season, and Dreger says that he is going to get whatever he asks: “What is it going to be? $11 million or $12 million a year? Whatever it is, he is going to get it from the Oilers, and they’re going to happily buck up.”
