Rumor: NHL head coach will be fired after tonight's game.

A National Hockey League head coach's future may very well depend on the outcome of tonight's game.

The Detroit Red Wings have gone winless in their last seven games and that stretch includes a humiliating 10 - 1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens and the rumors regarding the future of head coach Jeff Blashill have been gaining momentum.

Now Ansar Khan of Mlive.com, arguably the best Red Wings' insider in the business, is reporting that tonight's match up against the Winnipeg Jets may be Blashill's final game behind the Red Wings bench.

Don't expect a coaching change before Tuesday, when the Red Wings begin a five-game homestand against the Winnipeg Jets. But if the Red Wings get blown out again, and with three days off before their next game, Saturday vs. the Blues, it might be time for a change behind the bench.

No one would be particularly surprised to see Blashill fired from his position, but fans in Detroit have also been calling for the head of general manager Ken Holland. In fact many have suggested he not Blashill is to blame for the Red Wings current predicament.

If Blashill goes tonight many fans will be hoping Holland follows shortly.
