Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk has become one of the most notorious owners in all of North American professional sports over the past several years, so much so that even some casual fans are well aware of his name and the role he plays within the Senators organization. Melnyk has made a habit of putting his foot in his mouth or publicly embarrassing himself or the organization, especially as of late, and the most recent controversy surrounding Melnyk surrounded the firing of Jim Little, a man that Melnyk himself had hired just weeks prior to his termination, 54 days prior to be exact.

Fans have now heard a myriad of potential reasons behind the firing of Little, including allegations of alleged abuse made by Little's ex wife, but thus far there has been no official confirmation regarding the reason he was terminated by the Senators. On Saturday night however one National Hockey League insider revealed the details of an extremely heated conversation that took place between Little and Melnyk and needless to say it involved Little taking the much maligned owner to task for his handling of the team.

On Saturday night Sportsnet National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that Melnyk had become displeased with how blunt Little was being with the fans regarding the teams economic struggles and had asked his CEO to change the tone of his messaging, a request that reportedly led to an extremely heated conversation between the two men on valentines day. According to Friedman fellow employees were within earshot of this conversation and according to sources Little went off on Melnyk, yelling at him for 10 straight minutes. Friedman even shared one of the comments reportedly made by Little on the call and needless to say it was a damning condemnation of the Senators owner, one that no doubt many fans will agree with.

"The best thing that could happen to the Ottawa Senators is if you disappeared for 12 months...." said Little as per Friedman's report.

Needless to say if you're going to speak to your boss that way things are not going to go well for you in the long run, however it will be interesting to see how this one now plays out in the court of public opinion.
