According to a report from Swiss hockey reporter Klaus Zaugg, the Calgary Flames will sign Swiss League superstar Gaëtan Haas to a contract before his season ends in April.

From Zaugg:

As Haas' agent Jaro Tuma confirmes, the Flames have actively observed his client for a long period of time. He is expecting an offer by the end of the current season. However, the 25-year-old will only take the chance to play overseas if he's offered a one-way contract.

Haas has gotten off to an incredible start with Bern SC this season in the Swiss-A league with five goals and 17 points in 17 games. The 5’11”, 168 lb forward put up 11 goals and 33 points in 44 games last season with Biel HC

Haas is expected to be a major player for Switzerland in the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympic Games, where he may land on the radar of several more NHL teams. Regardless, it looks as if the road is paved for Haas’ arrival in the NHL and the first stop is Calgary.
