The Philadelphia Flyers were at several points this past season rumored to be calling Edmonton about acquiring one of their young forwards, and it appears that with the season at an end those discussion have once again picked up. According to a report from Fansided's Marc Naples the man they Flyers are targeting is former first overall pick Nail Yakupov.

Perhaps the newest, biggest rumor surrounding the Philadelphia Flyers is that they have interest in Edmonton Oilers forward Nail Yakupov.

Why the Flyers are targeting Yakupov is unclear, he's coming off an ugly season that saw him record just 8 goals and 15 assists, and is currently only under contract for one more year. This is particularly shocking when you consider that the rumored asking price to Naples is both defensive prospect Travis Sanheim and a draft pick.

The Flyers do have a deep pool of prospects on the blue line, but unless they believe they can drastically alter the course of Yakupov's career with a change of scenery this deal doesn't make a great deal of sense for Philadelphia.

For Edmonton the benefits of this deal are much for obvious, a solid prospect at a position of weakness for the organization, and a draft pick to go along with it, and all for the low price of riding yourself of a reminder of a failed era in your organization's history would be a very easy trade to stomach.
