Rumor: one of the Leafs' star players “to start season elsewhere”

Toronto Maple Leafs fans have heard it all summer long: many rumors of a potential trade have surfaced, more specifically a trade that would have improved their defensive group, but nothing has materialized. 

Yet. 

However, Hockey Buzz has reported that talks concerning a potential trade involving star player James van Riemsdyk are very fluid around the National Hockey League. 

"Most agree it is about 70% that JvR starts this season elsewhere...90% that he is elsewhere a year from now," a well-placed source has informed Hockey Buzz. 

There's a strong belief that the 28-year-old forward will not be re-singing any type of contract extension as he looks to break the bank in free agency.

The former Philadelphia Flyers second overall draft pick in 2007 recorded 29 goals last season, and a total of 62 points with the Leafs.
