What's going to happen now?

These days, the frenzied free agents market attracts all the attention in the NHL. Wild rumors and preemptive deals are the norm and Saturday should be a wild ride. However, quality journalism brings out important information about the future of the teams and the Pens are well covered in this regard.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jason Mackey brought out an important piece of information by interviewing the new goalie coach Mike Buckley today. According to his report, the Pens are actively on the market to find a backup goalie to Matt Murray for next season, as the team plans on giving an additional year to Tristan Jarry in the AHL.

“He’s definitely ready [to play games in the NHL],” Buckley said of Jarry. “It’s always best to give him more time, so that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to give him another year.”

It's pretty interesting but it makes a lot of sense. Jarry wouldn't see that much rubber in the NHL behind a young and vigorous Murray, except for an injury. He's better on the ice stopping pucks in the AHL than on the bench stopping yawns in the NHL.

Which now opens the question about who the Pens will try to sign on Saturday. All bets are off at this point!
