RUMOR: Promising Forward On the Move?
Keystone Press

The Detroit Red Wings have finally gotten a monkey off of their backs by winning against the Flyers in Philadelphia last night for the first time in close to 20 years.

They had not won there since 1997, and the game went into a shootout before head coach Jeff Blashill's troops came out victorious thanks to Andreas Athanasiou's goal.

But the Red Wings are making headlines for different reasons today, as they are caught in the midst of trade rumors revolving around promising forward prospect Anthony Mantha (currently with the Grand Rapids Griffins).

Mantha is rumored to be headed to the Anaheim Ducks, according to mynhltraderumors.com, as three members of their management team were reportedly attending a Griffins game in order to scout Mantha. There is no telling what the potential return is, but it is clear that Mantha has fallen out of favor with the Red Wings organization. The biggest indicator was that instead of calling the Longueuil, Canada native up to replace the injured Thomas Vanek, the brass opted to recall Tyler Bertuzzi.

More on this soon.
