Rumor: Rival teams may have interest in Vancouver's head coach.

Vancouver Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins has been on the hot seat for what feels like most of this National Hockey League season, but interest from rival teams may now have to be factored into any decision made by the Canucks organization.

TSN insider Darren Dreger is reporting that multiple teams appear to have interest in Desjardins, something that would also lead you to believe NHL team's have heard the same rumors about his future in Vancouver as we have.

“I’ve actually had other teams – and I can’t be specific to the team or teams who have asked me – but I have been asked about Willie’s future and whether or not the sense is that Vancouver will go in a different direction,” said Dreger as per FanRag's Chris Nichols. “And the reason I’ve been asked is there are teams out there who see him as a prime candidate. He’s a respected coach from an NHL perspective."

Both team president Trevor Linden as well as general manager Jim Benning have to be acutely aware of this new development and, while Linden did admit earlier this month that he would consider all his options, this may impact what they choose to do going forward.

It wasn't too long ago that we heard whispers of a similar situation in Boston, one in which the Bruins were rumored to have held on to Claude Julien for one extra season in order to keep him out of the hands of the Ottawa Senators.
