According to a report from The Fourth Period, a hockey blog run by NHL reporter and radio analyst David Pagnotta, the Buffalo Sabres are exploring the trade market and dangling three prominent forwards as potential bait.

According to the report:

Sabres GM Jason Botterill has been exploring the market and is willing to listen to trade possibilities, but there does not appear to be a lifeline readily available.
Numerous reports have claimed the Sabres have made Sam Reinhart available for trade, while the likes of Johan Larsson and Matt Moulson are also believed to be up for grabs.

Sam Reinhart is obviously the biggest name in this group. The former 2nd overall draft pick has sputtered a bit to begin his NHL career and there’s a sense amongst NHL insiders that he could use a change of scenery to jump start things. As for Johan Larsson and Matt Moulson, the pair have been mostly invisible so far this season.

Larsson has just a goal and three points on the campaign, whereas Moulson has gone pointless so far.

If GM Jason Botterill is going to make a move, he’ll likely have to include Reinhart in a deal if he expects to get anything more than a draft pick in return. Of course, rumors continue to swirl around forward Evander Kane. Should Botterill package up Reinhart and Kane, he could swing a blockbuster. Stay tuned, interesting times for a team in transition.
