Rumor: Six teams likely favorites to acquire Habs captain Max Pacioretty.

The National Hockey League's hottest trade rumor surrounds Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty and as more and more time passes it starts to seem more and more likely that he will in fact be traded.

Sportsnet has now named six teams that could be potential destinations for Pacioretty, and there are some very interesting names on this list, and one name that is notably absent. 

Among the list of six are two Canadian teams, the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames. Both teams have had some issues scoring goals this season so the injection of a player who has put up over 30 goals in each of the last four seasons would be a natural fit. 

Four team south of the boarder also made the list and those are the Los Angeles Kings, the Minnesota Wild, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Anaheim Ducks. Again all four of these squads are ones that could use an offensive boost so it's easy to see why they would have interest in Pacioretty. 

The question of course is which of these six teams would be in the position to make Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin the best offer prior to the trade deadline? 

It has to be said that arguably the hottest rumor surrounding Pacioretty has been one linking him to the Pittsburgh Penguins, so to see their name absent from this list is a curious development indeed.
