Rumor: Star player pressured his team into firing their head coach.

It sounds like a star player may have been the key factor in his head coach being fired, and while at this stage it's still just a rumor, there is now mounting evidence that this may in fact be what took place.

As many of you know head coach Michel Therrien was fired by the Canadiens back in February, but what you may not know is that many have suspected a star player was the man behind the firing. A report from Habs insider Marco Normandin has revealed that on Thursdayreporter Jeff Fillion was on Radio Ego this morning when he made the claim that a solid source had confirmed to him that it was in fact Carey Price who caused Therrien to be fired.

Fillion claims that Carey Price was the man to make the first move and approached general manager Marc Bergevin to inform him that Therrien was the source of the teams problems, and as we now know Marc Bergevin met with some his his top players during a road trip to Arizona without Therrien present. Just days later Therrien was out the door and Claude Julien was the man behind the bench.

Shea Weber was reportedly one of the other players in the meeting according to Fillion, but he did not have any such comments for Therrien, when everyone else in the meeting was silent, Price stood up and told Bergevin directly that Therien needed to go. Fillion called this a "confirmed" story and appeared to be exceptionally confident about his sources.
