It sounds like one of the most coveted college free-agents left on the board may have made his decision.

Earlier today we heard rumors that 22-year-old defenseman Nick DeSimone out of Union College had narrowed his choice down to a handful of National hockey League organizations. Now however Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the choice has been made.

According to Friedman DeSimone has chosen to join the San Jose Sharks, although in what capacity he will be joining them is unclear at this time. Desimone had 9 goals and 10 assists for 19 points in 38 games and a plus minus rating of +13.

Former NHLer Matthew Barnaby had some high praise for DeSimone calling him an elite skater.
