These guys could certainly be options for rival teams.

All the talk surrounding potential trades involving National Hockey League defensemen has been coming from the Las Vegas Golden Knights who have 10 defensemen on their roster. However their may be another franchise with organizational depth on defense that has some interesting options available.

In a recent report for The Athletic, TSN insider Pierre LeBrun touched on the fact that the Los Angeles Kings could look to trade either Jake Muzzin or Alec Martinez in order to boost their group of forwards.

From LeBrun:

I believe the Kings like their organizational depth on the blueline enough that if they feel ahead of the Feb. 26 trade deadline they need an offensive boost for their top-9 forward group, the carrot to dangle could be either Jake Muzzin or Alec Martinez.

Muzzin, 28, is signed through 2019-20 at a $4-million cap hit while Martinez, 30, is inked through 2020-21 also at a $4-million cap hit.

According to LeBrun the Kings are currently hoping some of their up and coming prospects will provide enough of an offensive boost on their own, hence the possibility of this dragging out until the trade deadline. But should those prospects fail to deliver, it sounds like Muzzin or Martinez are the trading chips general manager Rob Blake is most likely to deal.
