Rumor: The Columbus Blue Jackets rejected a huge trade fore Matt Duchene!
NHL

A major trade offer was reportedly shot down in the National Hockey League.

We have been hearing for some time now that the Columbus Blue Jackets are among the favorites to acquire Colorado Avalanche star forward Matt Duchene, but it doesn't sounds like they will be willing to make just any deal.

According to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, the Blue Jackets rejected a trade involving Duchene, and while we don't know the full details of that deal we do know that 23-year-old forward Josh Anderson was part of that deal.

From Friedman:

That said, I’m surprised that Josh Anderson remains without a deal. Columbus went the extra mile to keep the edgy, rapidly improving forward from Vegas, and others.

It is believed, for example, that Colorado asked for him in Matt Duchene talks, only to be rejected.

With the demands from the Avalanche being a young defenseman for Duchene, we assume that a player like Ryan Murray was also a part of this deal, but that likely seemed like too steep a price to pay for the Blue Jackets.

This does however give us an idea of just how much Sakic is demanding for Duchene, even now when many believe his trade value may have dropped in recent days.
