Marc Bergevin luring his old assets?

Marc Bergevin looking at some of his old friends?

Considering that both men play on the wing, although Galchenyuk has been used at times as a center, it does seem like the Drouin move makes the Galchenyuk trade a forgone conclusion.

The question now becomes where will the Canadiens deal him, and what will they get in exchange. The Habs still need some help up the middle of their line up, so getting a center in a deal for Galchenyuk would be the dream scenario for the team.

As reported by John Jaeckel, Montreal are inquiring about a separate Hawk core player (not Hammer) this AM, not at liberty to divulge, awaiting more. Talks would be heating up between Chicago and Montreal around Galchenyuk. Jaeckel is not sure if Chicago will be willing to pay Montreal’s price which is Niklas Hjalmarsson.

Glachenyuk-Hjalmarsson kind of makes sense for Chicago. Hjalmarsson is a nice player, but is he worth a guy that is (or will be) a 1st line NHLer? Also, one can wonder if trading a 30-year-old defenseman for a 23-year-old center makes sense for the Montreal Canadiens DG who publicly claimed yesterday that the main reason he traded Sergachev was because he was receiving a 22-year-old player.
