Hot off reports earlier this morning that the Detroit Red Wings might be willing to move forward Gustav Nyquist and his $4.75 million contract, it appears as though he’s not the only Wings veteran to hit the trade block. Count Darren Helm and his $3.85 million contract as a another trade piece as well, according to Spector Hockey’s Lyle Richardson.

According to a report from Richardson, prior to moving Riley Sheahan to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Wings were in talks to move both Nyquist and Helm to gain cap relief. Now that Sheahan has been dealt however, it doesn’t mean the that Wings have closed to door on any potential deals.

Could Wings GM Ken Holland finally be seeing the light in terms of a rebuild? Wings fans have been begging and pleading for the team to ship out high priced veterans for awhile now, could the Sheahan trade finally be a sign that the team is headed in this direction? Keep your eye on this team as the season progresses. Their moves in advance of the trade deadline will speak volumes.
