It certainly looks like this deal is being seriously discussed.

When there's an existing trade rumor and two big name scouts suddenly show up at the game you can bet it's going to get people's attention.

For weeks now we've been hearing about a possible deal between the Anaheim Ducks and the Detroit Red Wings, more specifically a deal that would see Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler on his way to Detroit, and Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha headed back the other way to Anaheim.

While they remain just rumors, according to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman the Ducks had two of their top scouts , director of player personnel Rick Paterson, and scout Mike Stapleton, both show up at a Grand Rapids Griffins game while they were on a scouting assignment to take a look at the aforementioned Mantha. In fact former Leafs general manager and current special assignment scout for the Ducks Dave Nonis was also expected to be at the game, but had a conflict that prevented him from attending.

The move has raised some eyebrows, and certainly makes this a trade worth keeping your eyes on.
