Rumors of a blockbuster trade involving the Montreal Canadiens!

Habs about to acquire another NHL star?

The Montreal Canadiens have a large chuck of cap space, and one National Hockey League reporter believes that is by design.

Habs general manager Marc Bergevin is currently looking at roughly 8.5 million dollars worth of salary cap space, and Brian Wilde of the Recruters believes that cap space is there for none other than Colorado Avalanche star center Matt Duchene.

While it's unclear what the Habs would give up to entice Colorado in such a deal, there's no doubt that a center of Duchene's level is exactly what Montreal desperately needs the most right now. When asked if there was a chance Bergevin acquires Duchene Wilde's response was very clear.

"Hell yeah," said Wilde.

"Yes. It is possible"

It was extremely obvious that Duchene was not happy to be at the Avalanche's training camp on Thursday and many believe those optics will only serve to decrease his value on the trade market, putting even more pressure of general manager Joe Sakic to make a trade.

Could Marc Bergevin be the one to benefit from that pressure? The Habs GM certainly has shown a willingness to make blockbuster trade deals.
