Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli has been heavily scouting the Boston Bruins as of late and now we may have some information regarding what he has been looking at.

Boston Bruins insider Jimmy Murphy is now reporting that the Bruins and Oilers have had some preliminary talks regarding a trade that would bring Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to the Bruins organization.

Since hearing the rumors Murphy has consulted a source that confirmed the talks to him, and furthermore informed him that the Oilers have interest in young centers Danton Heinen and Peter Cehlarik. Both Heinen and Cehlarik are largely unproven National Hockey League rookies, so one has to imagine that the Bruins would need to sweeten the deal to get Nugent-Hopkins.

Murphy also reports that Chiarelli was once again in Boston today to watch the Bruins play the Penguins so while these talks are preliminary it seems the Oilers GM has some genuine interest in making a deal with his former team.
