Keystone Press.

Last week ESPN insider Pierre Lebrun revealed his belief that there is only a 5% chance veteran defense P.K. Subban is traded before July 1st, when his no trade clause would kick in, but another ESPN insider has some new information.

According to ESPN's Craig Custance, some conversations that took place at the combine in Buffalo have convinced him that his colleague may have undersold that possibility.

"After conversations in Buffalo, I might even go a little higher than that," said Custance in a recent ESPN Insider's article.

While Custance stated that the Edmonton Oilers are definitely in the mix, that rumor has been around since before the season ended, he also added that former Montreal Canadien Patrick Roy may be orchestrating a blockbuster trade with Marc Bergevin.

Colorado could build a deal around Matt Duchene. If the Avalanche do acquire Subban, and Tyson Barrie isn’t part of that deal, it’s quite possible he’s moved in a secondary deal. It should all be fascinating to watch.

The question of course now becomes what would Montreal demand in return from Colorado? At the top of the list is the aforementioned Tyson Barrie, but Custance did not speculate on who could be involved in such a trade.
