One player’s recent contract signing might not provide him with the two years of stability he had initially hoped for.

TVA Sports reports that Antoine Vermette’s new deal with the Anaheim Ducks includes a no movement clause which expires in June of 2017. The kicker? His no trade clause kicks in immediately after, making him eligible to join Las Vegas through their expansion draft that’s set to take place that same month.

With a salary cap hit of $1.75 million per year, the new (and yet-to-be-named) NHL franchise could benefit from having his veteran presence around, should he find his scoring touch with his new team.
