Russian forward describes horrific sexual assault he experienced in North America.
Denis Thibault

A Russian forward has just shared a rather disturbing account of his experiences when he was a guest in North America in his attempt to further his professional hockey career.

In a recent interview from Sport Express, Yaroslav Alexeyev spoke with reporter Evgeny Belousov and went into graphic detail regarding some of the things he experienced when he was a part of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The things described by Alexeyev in this interview can only be described as sexual assault, and again he goes into graphic detail regarding his experiences so this is not for the faint of heart.

Here is a transcription of Alexeyev's comments during the interview, translated by RMNB Igor Kleyner:

Sport Express: What other rough stuff was going on in Canada?

Alexeyev: Oh, the most important one: the rookie party. I was smart to pay off right away for twenty dollars. Then they handed out to all rookies adult diapers, and they wore them at home for the whole day, but that was just the beginning. The first round — everybody drank five beers, and then the last one had to do five shots of vodka. The worst was yet to come, they made everybody put a cookie in their anus and race around the building. During the race the older guys jumped out of the bushes and pushed people in the back. The last one had to eat his cookie. And in the end — they forced everybody.

Sport Express: What else?

Alexeyev: I really didn’t like the party the next year. They put every guy in a g-string, gave them a little crown, and gathered everybody in a small shack. One of the older guys put on a black apron, a bandit mask, cleaning gloves, he had a broom with a condom on the end of the broomstick. He called everybody one at a time, and shoved the broom up the guys ass, so that he would scream and frighten everybody else. Such inadequate nonsense.

Now it is unclear if Alexeyev is speaking of himself or merely things he witnessed, but he was a rookie in the QMJHL while he played under the Sherbrooke Phoenix organization. It is worth noting that Alexeyev was eventually moved to another team after just 2 seasons in the league, finishing out his third and final season with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Both the QMJHL and the Sherbrooke Phoenix have not commented on this story thus far, and unfortunately you have to wonder how this could impact Yaroslav Alexeyev's career going forward given how open and transparent he has been about some of the more gruesome things he experienced. It could also explain why he now finds himself playing for Saimaan Pallo in Finland.
