The Buffalo Sabres have reached an agreement with restricted free agent Zemgus Girgensons.
The Score reports that the team has signed the forward to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million, putting an end to what seemed like never-ending negotiations.
Girgensons is entering his fourth season as a Sabres player. While he underwhelmed when he put up 18 points last season, general manager Tim Murray believes the 22-year-old is on the right path:
“Zemgus has grown into a solid two-way player since beginning his career. We hope to see him continue this positive trend and find a consistent role within the club this season...”
