Last night, March 18th 2016, Scott Darling registered his second career shut out. That might not seem like something overly interesting, but there is a twist to it. It was exactly one year to the day that he recorded his first career shut out. He shut out the New York Rangers last season on March 18th 2015.

Kind of a funny coincidence. Darling has been a solid backup to Corey Crawford. For a big goalie, he still is quite agile and has made many big saves over his career with Chicago so far. Has the fact that the Hawks can rely on a solid backup helped Crawford to have one of the best seasons of his career? Maybe. It can definitely help to not over tax their number one goaltender so he can be rested and ready for another long playoff run.

Congrats on the shutout Scott. I guess we can look forward to another shut out on March 18 2017! [pub]
