Over the course of his career, Ales Hemsky has had to battle injuries on numerous occasions. After having been restricted to 15 games with the Dallas Stars last season due to a hip injury, the 33-year-old remains positive when talking about the upcoming season.

In an interview with RDS, the French affiliate of TSN, the Czech winger described Montreal as an opportunity for a fresh start, one in which he is determined that he still has his place within the NHL.

When questioned on what he could bring to the Habs roster, Hemsky referred to his speed, his passing ability and his offensive talent, which he believes meshes well with the team’s present roster.

At 33 years of age, Hemsky is not getting any younger, and with such a history of injuries, one wonders if he will be able to remain healthy for an entire season and truly help the Montreal Canadiens.

Ales Hemsky made a name for himself while playing for the Edmonton Oilers, for whom he recorded 71 points in 74 games in 2007-08. He cumulated 572 points in 838 NHL games.
