Seasoned veteran wants another chance in the NHL!

Even though he is now 33 years of age, Scottie Upshall really wishes an NHL team would give him another chance to play in the National Hockey League next season. But he knows the drill: he has been in this exact situation back in 2015, when he had to wait all summer to get a professional tryout with the St. Louis Blues.

In an interview with John Matisz of the Toronto Sun, Upshall gave us a little update about his current situation:

“There’s been some talks lately, more than earlier in the summer,. Every time I’m out on the ice, it’s an audition. You never know. There’s a lot of guys here who have a lot of say on their respective clubs.”

Even though he wants to play in the NHL next year, Upshall admits he has to consider other options. He said he had "pretty good offers" from a few European teams, especially from Russia.

"The Olympics, the money that they hand out (in European leagues) ... it’s hard to say no to that opportunity. Playing for the Olympic team would be a dream come true.”

The former 6th overall pick played a total of 696 games with the Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers and St. Louis Blues. He scored 131 goals and recorded 266 points, as well as 569 penalty minutes. He has never won the Stanley Cup.
