Seattle breaking serious rule ahead of expansion draft

The world - not just hockey - has come to a halt in the past weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic as many presidents and prime ministers order or strongly suggest that everyone stays at home to stop contamination.

However, the 32nd expansion from the National Hockey League in Seattle has decided to break the rule and focus on its arena ahead of the expansion draft.

It has been reported that “construction work at Seattle Center Arena will continue through Stay-at-Home order. Construction at Northgate Mall/hockey practice facility will halt temporarily, per NHL Seattle spokesperson.”

While we understand that it is important for Seattle to have an arena to get the team as the expansion draft is set to take place in 2021, we wonder if this is a safe decision for all parties involved.

Workers and their families need to remain safe and the Stay-at-Home order is there to protect them.

We wonder - if ever the situation becomes worse in the United States - if that decision will be overturned and construction work will be halted at the Seattle Center Arena.

We just hope that everyone remains safe.
