Seattle NHL team releases an official “placeholder” logo

Earlier today hockey blog Icethetics, which if you’re into logo and uniform history is DEFINITELY worth a visit, broke the news that the Seattle NHL expansion franchise has officially released a “placeholder” logo.

The blog asserts that the logo could be a preview of things to come, at least when it comes to the expansion team’s color scheme. Here’s the logo:

Black and red? Really? There are already three NHL teams with that color scheme… seems like a wasted opportunity.

I have heard that black and red are the mix. The team has been considering a northwest native look, and their primary colors are black and red. Also a light teal or aquamarine as well. Could make for a unique look for Seattle.

Additionally, Icethetics has discovered that the Seattle group has set up a “fan portal” with poll questions regarding team names, logos and colors.
