The Ottawa Senators have just announced that they have named Jim Little as their new CEO.

According to team insider Ian Mendes of TSN 1200, Little’s “got a background in communications/marketing/PR — and was most recently an executive VP with Shaw Communications.”

“Jim Little will take on responsibility for the overall business strategy of the organization, with a special focus on marketing and strengthening community relations,” the team’s press release reads.

"Eugene has asked me to lead the business operations of the Ottawa Senators - and to do so with a clear priority to re-create a strong, positive relationship with this community," said Little. "I want to thank him for the confidence he has shown in me and for the clarity of the mandate to be creative, to engage fans, partners, business and civic leaders in getting this chemistry right for the long term. We've got a passionate and dedicated team of professionals, on and off the ice, and a community that wants us to succeed - together, we will."

The Senators are last in NHL attendance.

Many fans in Ottawa might be hoping that another change will be coming soon, one that will see owner Eugene Melnyk letting go of the team.

For now, pundits are quite encouraged by the arrival and new role of Little.
