Senators to trade 3rd and 5th picks to land Lafreniere?!

Friday night was a tough one for the Ottawa Senators, who thought they would get the first overall pick at the NHL Draft lottery.

The Senators had one of their picks remain in the third spot, but will also selected fifth, while the eight teams who fail to advance to the first-round of the Stanley Cup playoffs will all have an equal chance (12.5 per cent) to select No. 1 overall in the 2020 Draft.

Unless Sens general manager Pierre Dorion pulls a monster blockbuster trade at the draft.

On the air of 91,9 Sports in Montreal, it was debated that Dorion could choose to trade the picks he won in the latest lottery, moving his third and fifth overall picks to the placeholder that is expected to select Alexis Lafreniere first overall.

Because the Senators when the projected first overall pick and prodigy Lafreniere more than anything. However some say that could take more than two first rounders to get him away from his new team, whoever that will be.
The Senators had the best collective odds (25 per cent) to end up on top of the draft board – and still the best odds after the first three balls were drawn – but settled for the third and fifth picks.

And Dorion might want to find any other way to get back on top.

Pardon our French:
