The Ottawa Senators may not be playing, and while they might be 30th in the league, they are feeling pretty great.

As Darren Dreger reported on Thursday’s edition of Insider Trading that Artyom Zub has made his choice.

“The expectation is that Zub, who’s got the potential to be a top-four shutdown D-man in the NHL, will sign with the Ottawa Senators,“ Dreger said Thursday.

Dreger reported earlier this week that the Senators were one of two finalists for the services of the KHL defenseman, with Ottawa being a “top choice."

The 24-year-old posted 13 goals and22 points in57 games this season with SKA St. Petersburg. He won gold with the Olympic Athletes from Russia at Pyeong Chang 2018 and is a two-time bronze medallist at the World Hockey Championship with Russia.

He won the KHL’s Gagarin Cup with SKA in 2017.

The Senators are getting better and better ahead of the draft lottery as they stand the luckiest of all teams with two picks in the first round.
