The Montreal Canadiens made a huge trade over the summer to acquire forward Jonathan Drouin.

They followed the move with a significant contract signing, offering a six-year, 33$ million deal to Drouin.

However, the 22-year-old still didn’t know if he’d play on the wing or at center, with just a few weeks left to the offseason.  On Tuesday, coach Claude Julien confirmed to reports present at Max Pacioretty’s golf tournament, that Drouin will get a shot at center.

Drouin will compete directly with his new teammate Alex Galchenyuk, who had a chance to play center last season.

It will be interesting to see if both players will be able to fill out the role that hasn’t been fulfilled by the Habs in several years. A top centerman is still needed in Montreal, and Drouin and Galchenyuk might get into a heated competition to meet Julien’s and fans’ expectations.

A good competition might be what is needed to boost the Canadiens’ offense!
