There have been some very interesting developments regarding New York Islanders veteran goaltender Jaroslav Halak.

As most of our readers will know, Halak was placed on the trading block after comments made by his agent Alan Walsh over the weekend. Walsh was vocal on social media about the three goalie system utilized by the Islanders for the past two seasons, and nothing he had to say was positive, leading general manager Garth Snow to inform the rest of the National Hockey League that Halak was availble to be traded. Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman was the fiurst with that report:

However an update from Arthur Staple of Newsday may indicate that Halak's agent may have overplayed his hand. Staple claims that Snow sent an email out across the NHL indicating that Halak was available to be dealt, however there have been no takers thus far.

From Staple:

The sources confirmed that Snow sent an email to the rest of the league’s general managers on Saturday night saying Halak, who has one more season at $4.5 million after this one, is available for a trade. But one of those sources said the Islanders hadn’t received any offers for Halak after the email or before.

That doesn't mean there won't be offers made, there are after all teams struggling in net, however with rumors trade rumors surrounding high end goaltenders like Ben Bishop and Marc-Andre Fleruy, teams may be less inclined to take a big $4.5 million gamble on Halak over the next two years.
