Sharks and Leafs linked in trade rumour!?

The San Jose Sharks have not been themselves for the past weeks, dropping their record to 4-9-1 after another loss on Friday, this time at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets.

This prompted Jared Clinton of The Hockey News to suggest that the Sharks should find solution to their goaltending problem before it’s too late as both Martin Jones and Aaron Dell have struggled since last season.

Suggesting that GM Doug Wilson should shop and get put some pressure on one of the two goalies, we wonder if the Toronto Maple Leafs might not be a possible target for the Sharks.

The Leafs are focused on shedding salary and needs to explore the trade market and could also be looking goalie prices around the league, as David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported on Friday.

This is not the first time questions have been raised on backup goalie Michael Hutchinson’s tenure with the Leafs. It has prompted Dubas to inquire with rival clubs and look for another netminder to back-up starting goalie Frederik Andersen.

The Sharks could potentially offer Dell and a change of scenery to him and Hutchinson could benefit both goalies.

Another issue for the Sharks is that they have limited salary-cap space. Clinton still feels they must do something to address this problem, even if it’s a cheap short-term solution.

Let’s see if this possibility sticks…
