In a show of true class, the San Jose Sharks have taken out a full page ad in the San Jose Mercury News thanking former captain and long-time San Jose Sharks legend Patrick Marleau.

Check it out:

Again, just a sign of true class. Sharks fans may still harbor some bitter feelings regarding the Marleau situation, directed either at the player or at Sharks GM Doug Wilson, but it’s a nice gesture from the team to properly honor him on the way out of town.

The 37 year-old veteran has played his entire NHL career, nearly 1500 games, for the Sharks, but elected to sign a three-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in free-agency this offseason. He’ll be counted on to add some secondary scoring to an offensively gifted Leafs team and is hoping to improve upon his 27 goals and 46 points in 82 games from last season. All the best, Patty!
